Hidden Navigation Menus Yay or Nay?

Hidden navigation has been around for a while in mobile design but it's seen more and more on the desktop as well. Vote or post examples below and share your thoughts about this design trend. One example to get things started http://www.squarespace.com/ See "hamburger" menu (3 horizontal lines) in upper right corner. Click the hamburger and the local navigation menu pops in from the right.

Pullquote Options

As a user, I need to have multiple options for pull quotes that are template approved.


Work with Westwerk design team to identify additional style options, as well as margin, padding, text color picker, etc.

Google Font Options for Feature Pages

Force immediate update for Theme.

I appreciate that it takes 10 mins or so to update the frontpage template. It would be idea if we could force update certain changes to happen immediately.

Redirect Solution for 301 URL Changes

Yost removed the 301 feature in its latest update of the plugin, which we used frequently to help with URL changes on the fly.


It would be awesome for Web Admins to have some ability to control redirects without having to contact Rachael.

Looping Video Backgrounds - All the rage? Or outrageous?

Large looping videos like this http://www.sjprep.org/ started showing up on the web a while back and quickly grew in popularity. PayPal was one of the first, but it seems they and others have already moved away from it. Vote, post examples and discuss pros and cons in this thread.

Slider / Slideshow Alternatives? Modern Trends

On the current boisestate.edu website we use A LOT of sliders/slideshows. Sliders can add visual interest, and showcase important information about the university, your department or college. The downside is that the large images can cause slow page loads (especially problematic on mobile) and users may only see the first slide or first few if we're lucky. Let's use this thread to brainstorm ideas for alternatives to slideshows!
